Nature and Impact of Trauma
Trauma is a tragic event that holds a negative serious impact on an individual’s psychological and physical health. It holds the power to change a person’s pathology and alter their worldview.
Traumatic events can have profound effects on the individual who experiences them, and the impact of such stressful events or circumstances usually results in people feeling overwhelmed, vulnerable, helpless, betrayed, frightened, and alone.
Post Traumatic Response
Post traumatic response is a consequence of the traumatic event leading to symptoms of depression, anxiety, dissociation, somatic symptoms, and substance use, often leading to what we know as post-traumatic stress disorder and complex stress disorder.

Trauma can be emotional, physical, sexual, historical and intergenerational in nature, varying from being acute to complex.

It can be unique to an individual or culture biased or even relatively universal depending upon its nature.
